Everybody clean up ! ( Recount)

Walt: structure a recount

Has your class ever done a yucky job that includes helping your area/community? Well, this morning we did something intriguing but fun. Read on to find out what we did today.

Mr Goodwin told us that we will be doing something that includes rubbish bags. Straight away the whole class knew what we were going to do, do you have an idea of what we did? We were sauntering in a squiggly line as a flawless class. Anyways, five minutes passed by and we were already on the Reserve. Mr Goodwin explained to the class that we have to be in 5 groups of 6 to be able to compete in the rubbish pick up challenge. We had boundaries and zones so we wouldn’t be running off to Mars. We had 4 Zones, 2 of the areas were on the Reserve and the rest was on our bottom field and our main field. The team with the most rubbish in their rubbish bags wins and gets to have ten minutes of Cool Maths Games.

Levonah, Jahzara, Eden, Marika, Leilani and I were in a group. Our strategy was to run and pick up rubbish. While our team was picking up trash, Eden came across some jandals and she even tried to sneak it into our rubbish bag. But, Eden got caught because she was laughing alone like a weirdo. I would’ve done anything to have ten minutes of playing games instead of doing our work.

Mr Goodwin blew the whistle and we all came running and panting outside of the Library. Miss Haare was the judge. I was feeling really confident until I saw Miss Haare pick up Chance’s groups rubbish bag. Their bag was nearly half way full. Miss Haare checked in all our rubbish bags, she found all sorts of stuff even a big bark of tree in Tuluinga’s group. Finally, Miss Haare made a decision, her choice was final. Unfortunately my group didn’t win but Chance’s group did. They definitely deserve the ten minutes of Cool Maths Games!

Overall, this experience was very enjoyable. Who knew picking up rubbish during learning time with your classmates would be fun? Next time, I would love to see an actual jandal in one of the rubbish bags if we ever do this, I would love to do this again but with another upgraded prize to win!

Task Description
For this task we had to go to the reserve to do our experience. After that we began our writing. We had to include exciting language. I tried my best to have correct grammar and to make sense in my recount above. Hope you enjoy !

Matariki Day Recount!

Walt: structure a recount

Have you ever had your school celebrate a day about Matariki? Well Pt England School took a day off school work last Friday and started having fun, it was a day full of enthusiasm. Read on to find out more about our Matariki day.

After Assembly, we were bursting to find out who was in our group and what group we were in. Miss Parrant shouted out “ Pisirina, Eden and Chance go to the Staff room because you are in My Kai Rules.” I jumped into thrillness because my two friends were with me in my group. I went speed walking to the Staff Room and found 15 other people power walking towards the Office.

At the Office, Miss Flavelle, Mrs Sorenson, Mrs McMillan and Miss Takerei gave us stickers with our names on it so that they can remember our names. We got splitted into 3 stations and did 3 different things. Eden,Ayvah,Danielle,John, Rangimaria, Rozaida and I were with Mrs McMillan’s station. We made Chocolate Fudge Slices. It was Deliciously Tasty.

Mrs McMillan gave us a laminated list with ingredients and instructions. We all read out “Chocolate fudge Slices.” We were reading out the ingredients and putting the ingredients on top of the small table. Finally we were ready to bake! My favourite thing to do during the process of baking is melting the butter. It was so satisfying and it smelled nice when Eden and I were melting the butter.

We then were adding in the ingredients.Ayvah and John splatted the mixture of all the ingredients onto a parchment paper and tray. Then we carefully threw it into the Refrigerator that was in the Staffroom. After that, MKR group spent 15 minutes creating a plate for us to take home. On that plate there was fruit kebabs, egg and parsley sandwiches, ham sandwiches, chocolate chip cookies and Chocolate fudge slices. All the treats on our plate were made by the MKR group.

Finally we finished up and had to go to the hall to have a assembly to show what some of our groups in our whole school have done. We were chosen by Mr Burt to go up the stage and present our creation which was our food plate to the whole school. Zaeeda grabbed the microphone and described what was on our plates. It was a very good description of our plates.

At the end of the day, I think everyone in my group would agree with me and say that it was Amazingly awesome. We were so blessed that we got to make all sorts of yummy treats. I can not wait until next year to do this again.

Task Description
For this task we had to write a recount about Last friday the 8th of June. We wrote about how interesting or fun our day was. This was really tiring to write because our class doesn't like recounts . Read my whole story above to find out how the 8th of June went.

Meet Shelly, my new friend

Walt: Structure a recount.

This is my Eggsperience with my new friend.  I made a new friend today,a egg friend.Do you have a egg friend?

Mr Goodwin reached his hand into the cupboard and grabbed out three tray of eggs and two packets of vivids. “Please don’t tell me we are doing another mission” I said anxiously and confused,Mr Goodwin told us we are going to be making a little friend. Mr Goodwin showed us how we were going to make our little friend. He drew a little cartoon face on his egg, Marika named him Bob, We were all laughing until Mr Goodwin told us to ‘stop’. Now it’s our turn to try it out. The face of my little friend wasn’t on ‘fleek’ but it was good enough, All there was left to do was name her, Shelly is the perfect name.

Now it was time to take Shelly on a tour around the school. As we were cradling our egg friends, we lined up. We strolled down the court and stopped near the breeze, Loseti was an irresponsible friend and put his egg in is pocket. “Gasp”, I know what you’re thinking,I’m disgusted or something like that. After all that Drama happened we continued walking to the Park. Finally we made it to the park!

Me, Marika, Jahzara and Levonah were the 2nd ones to take a photo with our egg mate. “Sit up for your photo Shelly’ I whispered so no-one can hear. “ You have to go through obstacle course in the playground” Mr Goodwin shouted,  I carefully ran up the ladder and ran past the monkey bars. I was feeling nervous because I thought I was gonna have butter fingers and drop shelly. Luckily I didn’t drop her unlike some other people.

Overall It was a fun experience. I made a new friend and supervised Shelly.  If I was a teacher I would definitely  do this with my class.

Photos below! This is Shelly

Task Description: This writing is a recount. We had to do a challenge where we had to go through the obstacle courses but we have look after our eggs. This was a difficult task. This was like a training for looking after a baby.

Pisirina Recount Writing: Stardome Trip

While sorting out groups, I was scared if I was with my friends or not. Mrs Buchanan called out my name and said “ Pisirina, Roshaan, Jedida, Marika,AJF, Jacob, Varnce and AJT are in Mr Eze’s group.

When we got there, I was so excited because it looked so fascinating inside. We marched politely inside the Stardome classroom. We met our instructor, his name is John. He talked with us about all of the facts of the planets in the solar system. A few facts I learnt in the room is that some nicknames for the planets are Rocky midgets(Earth, Mars, Mercury and Venus), Gas Giants (Saturn,Jupiter,Uranus and Neptune). Another thing I also learnt is  Venus is hotter than Mercury and Mercury is the second closest to the Sun.

After that we had a scavenger hunt about space. We had to look for answers around the Gallery area. There were three groups who came 1st equal. Mr Eze had two groups for the scavenger hunt and they both came 1st! The names of the two groups are The Galaxy / Mr Eze’s boys and The Stars A.K.A. me and the other girls.

Now we went over to the Planetarium and this is where all the magic begins. We looked up into this dome and watched this cool movie. We saw some zodiac signs and other things in the milky way.
The worst thing about the trip was going in the same bus which had no windows and the Air conditioner didn’t work! I literally thought that I was going to be a baked potato.  Another problem was I was all by myself because I had none of my besties with me and so I kept on singing Lonely to myself but it still didn’t change a single thing.

In the end of the day I really enjoyed what had just happened last Thursday and I was really excited to write about it.

Catching coins

That was the hardest experience I’ve ever had in my entire life. The catching coins challenge was really difficult.

“For writing we are going to go somewhere and make a recount about what we have just did” Miss West said. “Tell me what we are doing” Exclaimed myself. Miss West did a demonstration of what we were going to do.

First instruction was you had to put your arm on a position you would try to lick your elbow but your arm had to be steady. Your palm had to be facing up. Second instruction is  you just had to flick your arm up and try to catch it with the hand that you are using but only one of your hands. Last instruction, once you have catched your first coin, you move on to your second coin and so on (2 coins at once) .

Walking outside sensibly while other are running maniacally. Forming a circle, well kind of a circle more of a oval, we  all stood up and was shivering to death. The only thing I heard was my classmates saying “Can we go inside now Miss”!

Miss West handed us our first counter (coin). We all started at the same time. Some people were up to their second coin while I’m just over here in the corner still blooming on my first coin. “Finally I am one of you guys” I shouted.

I saw lots of people having a good time and others being completely focused on their counter.I got up to 8 counters. One of our best coin catcher, Josh got about 14 coins. Can you imagine that much counters on your arm stacked up, unbelievable right?

I wish we could do this some time again so I can learn from my mistakes and try to get a higher score.

Immersion Assembly

Wow! My ears are sore from all of the movies. Oh Hi there we just came back from Immersion assembly. I know what you may be thinking,( What in the world is Immersion assembly?)
Well instead of answering your question, I will tell you what happened at my Immersion assembly.

It started off by Mr Burt saying “ Kia ora Tamariki Ma, It is Term 2. As you can already see up here our topic for this Term is Now that’s thinking”! “Kia ora Mr Burt “replied the entire school tiredly. We did our karakia and the prefect did their Mihi but we didn’t sing the national anthem. When Mr Burt told us to sit down (before singing the national anthem ) and moved on to the next thing, I was like“ is this even a assembly”?.

Finally my favourite part about Immersion assembly, knowing what the focus on the term is for our teams. As usual Team 1 is always first, what they are doing are making kites to celebrate Matariki.Fun fact about Matariki, they don’t show up at night, they only show up at 3 or 4 in the morning so you have to sleep early like at 6 or 7.
Team 2! What are they going to be learning about? Well I will tell you right now. They are going to be doing the same thing as Team 1. Yep they're going to make kites. They are going to make it out sticks, types of fabric and strong string. Next up is Team 3.

Team 3 is learning about Tamarereti to celebrate Matariki. Matariki is so big that nearly every team is celebrating Matariki. The second to last thing is my team (Team 4).

My team is going to see how technology has changed over time from the past to the future and what kinds of technology Maori used before Pakeha and Europeans came to aotearoa. The last and all Team 5 ( the year 7 & 8 seniors).

Team 5 is doing something which associates to Now that's thinking a lot. They are going to learn how can we design, build, create and change to improve life at Pt England ? “ Yeah how can we make Pt england a better place”?

This term I am so excited to see what happens. I am also excited to play sports this season in winter.
