Pisirina's Ambassador Application video

Talofa lava and welcome to my ambassador application. My name is Pisirina and I am 10 yrs old. I am full samoan and I am very proud of my culture and my family too.
My family is supportive, loving and kind. They are always there for me and will always be. I have 2 brothers and 3 sisters, my younger brother attends Pt england School as well. I am very thankful for all the people in my life.
At school, I love to learn, create and share because it increases my learning to a higher standard. Math is my favourite subject because learning a new strategy helps me answer  difficult questions. During class, I am able to make my friends laugh and make a smile spread . I am eager to learn and discover more.
I have four extraordinary and unique best friends, that are important to me in my life.
I want to be an ambassador because I am confident toward others and I am a great leader when it comes to leadership. I know that I can use my key competencies when I am hyped or not focused and that I love interact with others by having conversations.
My teacher tells me that I am a kind and respectful person. Also that I am a person that has empathy towards others and that I can be a good friend to them too.

Pisirina Recount Writing: Stardome Trip

While sorting out groups, I was scared if I was with my friends or not. Mrs Buchanan called out my name and said “ Pisirina, Roshaan, Jedida, Marika,AJF, Jacob, Varnce and AJT are in Mr Eze’s group.

When we got there, I was so excited because it looked so fascinating inside. We marched politely inside the Stardome classroom. We met our instructor, his name is John. He talked with us about all of the facts of the planets in the solar system. A few facts I learnt in the room is that some nicknames for the planets are Rocky midgets(Earth, Mars, Mercury and Venus), Gas Giants (Saturn,Jupiter,Uranus and Neptune). Another thing I also learnt is  Venus is hotter than Mercury and Mercury is the second closest to the Sun.

After that we had a scavenger hunt about space. We had to look for answers around the Gallery area. There were three groups who came 1st equal. Mr Eze had two groups for the scavenger hunt and they both came 1st! The names of the two groups are The Galaxy / Mr Eze’s boys and The Stars A.K.A. me and the other girls.

Now we went over to the Planetarium and this is where all the magic begins. We looked up into this dome and watched this cool movie. We saw some zodiac signs and other things in the milky way.
The worst thing about the trip was going in the same bus which had no windows and the Air conditioner didn’t work! I literally thought that I was going to be a baked potato.  Another problem was I was all by myself because I had none of my besties with me and so I kept on singing Lonely to myself but it still didn’t change a single thing.

In the end of the day I really enjoyed what had just happened last Thursday and I was really excited to write about it.

Animation

This is my animation. I hope you enjoy!

Here is my script.

Back in the day before europeans came, Maori had lots of technology and methods to make useful thing in their life. One of the products was a Waka. A Waka would’ve taken months and weeks to build. They might have carved a Totara tree into a narrow boat and used strips of harakeke to lash the woods together. To move the Waka, they would’ve needed strong men to move the boat .

Time flies by very quickly so when the europeans and pakeha came to new Zealand, factories were built because of the materials they had. So when more factories were built that meant more materials were made like metal and steel.

Before we had speedboats, the europeans made steamboats. One of the famous steamboats is the titanic. The titanic needed 500 men to move the titanic in the boiler room. Fast forward to the present, Nowadays we have speed boats because it is faster to get from one place to another. We use motors to push our speed boats forward.

Technology changes over time because every year new inventions and products are being made. People make technology to fix problems.

Jahzara's Birthday

Today is Jahzara’s birthday, she is turning 10yrs old. Before Sunday on Saturday, she invited us over to her house to celebrate her birthday and her sleepover. She invited her top 7 besties, Me, Levonah, Marika, Rosiephine, Chance, and Eden. Arriving at jahzara’s house, I tried to hide but my mum told me not worry. On the day she wore a blue button shirt with black tights. A few mins later we went to pick up Levonah at about 4:00 . We drove over to Levonah’s house with Jahzara’s mum. While we were driving, the silence was getting quiet and quieter until Levonah came into the car with Jahzara’s present and blanket with her pillow. We went back to Jahzara’s house and later that day at 4:30 Rosie (Rosiephine) came with her mum. Us three went to the trampoline and the netball hoop outside. We went bouncing to the room. Then all of sudden, Marika and Eden came. Running downstairs I said to Marika’s mum, “Miss King, our little girl is growing up “ I pretend to sobb.We all waited for Chance to come but unfortunately Chance did not come, but we all wiped our tears away and carried on. Jahzara’s mum went to buy the tickets to the movies, she said there was a surprise. Jahzara was bursting to tell what the surprise was, Jahzara’s  mum came back with pizza! We did the prayer and while we were doing the prayer one of jahzara’s baby twin was saying Amen over and over again. We went back upstairs to sort out our blankets and pillows to where we were going to sleep. I slept with Rosie, Marika with Eden and Jahzara with Levonah.  At about 7:00 we started to watch white chicks on the PS4.after about 1 hour of watching that we went to the movies, the surprise was that we were going to the lux. For those of you that don’t know what the Lux is, it is those big red couches at the top of the theaters. The movie we watched was Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales. We had desserts in the middle of the movie. Marika had brownies with ice cream, Levonah and Jahzara had mini doughnuts with ice cream and me, Rosie and Eden had an Ice cream sundae, all I could was that that was delicious. We put ourselves to sleep at 1:00 because the movie finished at 11: something. While I was sleeping all I could smell was pancake mixture and that time I knew it was morning but actually it was 4:00. At 6:00 we tiredly walked downstairs to eat our pancakes. After we ate, Jahzara opened her presents from us. We all went home in peace (NOT).

Catching coins

That was the hardest experience I’ve ever had in my entire life. The catching coins challenge was really difficult.

“For writing we are going to go somewhere and make a recount about what we have just did” Miss West said. “Tell me what we are doing” Exclaimed myself. Miss West did a demonstration of what we were going to do.

First instruction was you had to put your arm on a position you would try to lick your elbow but your arm had to be steady. Your palm had to be facing up. Second instruction is  you just had to flick your arm up and try to catch it with the hand that you are using but only one of your hands. Last instruction, once you have catched your first coin, you move on to your second coin and so on (2 coins at once) .

Walking outside sensibly while other are running maniacally. Forming a circle, well kind of a circle more of a oval, we  all stood up and was shivering to death. The only thing I heard was my classmates saying “Can we go inside now Miss”!

Miss West handed us our first counter (coin). We all started at the same time. Some people were up to their second coin while I’m just over here in the corner still blooming on my first coin. “Finally I am one of you guys” I shouted.

I saw lots of people having a good time and others being completely focused on their counter.I got up to 8 counters. One of our best coin catcher, Josh got about 14 coins. Can you imagine that much counters on your arm stacked up, unbelievable right?

I wish we could do this some time again so I can learn from my mistakes and try to get a higher score.

Immersion Assembly

Wow! My ears are sore from all of the movies. Oh Hi there we just came back from Immersion assembly. I know what you may be thinking,( What in the world is Immersion assembly?)
Well instead of answering your question, I will tell you what happened at my Immersion assembly.

It started off by Mr Burt saying “ Kia ora Tamariki Ma, It is Term 2. As you can already see up here our topic for this Term is Now that’s thinking”! “Kia ora Mr Burt “replied the entire school tiredly. We did our karakia and the prefect did their Mihi but we didn’t sing the national anthem. When Mr Burt told us to sit down (before singing the national anthem ) and moved on to the next thing, I was like“ is this even a assembly”?.

Finally my favourite part about Immersion assembly, knowing what the focus on the term is for our teams. As usual Team 1 is always first, what they are doing are making kites to celebrate Matariki.Fun fact about Matariki, they don’t show up at night, they only show up at 3 or 4 in the morning so you have to sleep early like at 6 or 7.
Team 2! What are they going to be learning about? Well I will tell you right now. They are going to be doing the same thing as Team 1. Yep they're going to make kites. They are going to make it out sticks, types of fabric and strong string. Next up is Team 3.

Team 3 is learning about Tamarereti to celebrate Matariki. Matariki is so big that nearly every team is celebrating Matariki. The second to last thing is my team (Team 4).

My team is going to see how technology has changed over time from the past to the future and what kinds of technology Maori used before Pakeha and Europeans came to aotearoa. The last and all Team 5 ( the year 7 & 8 seniors).

Team 5 is doing something which associates to Now that's thinking a lot. They are going to learn how can we design, build, create and change to improve life at Pt England ? “ Yeah how can we make Pt england a better place”?

This term I am so excited to see what happens. I am also excited to play sports this season in winter.

What is that?

What does this product look like?.......

We looked at a picture of a shoe but we didn’t know what it did. It looks like a new slim product. It doesn’t have laces and it looks like it would cost millions of dollars. You would definitely buy it because of its aesthetics. You would think it hasn’t been invented but it has. All I can say is that it is an eye catching product. I think it is made out rubber and carbon fibre because it is strong and useful for shoes.

What do you think this product is?.......

I have lots of ideas, its like my head is full of ideas. I am sure that if you press the icon on the front of the shoes it will activate the phone that is under your shoes. So it controls your shoes, meaning it’s like a remote. If you say moonwalk out loud it will do it for you, it even does the same thing when you tell it to dance.

What is the real product?

The product’s name is The world’s first smart shoe. They don’t come in your size, they just come in one size and it shrinks into your size. The company that created this product is Digitsole. One of its finest features is You can control the shoes with your smartphone. Another thing about the shoe is that  it has self lacing.  You can also warm up the shoes to 113 'F (45 celsius) individually on your phone. My opinion on the shoe is it is an amazing product and that it might be one of the world’s most unbelievable shoes. Here is a link to the website if you want to know more about the shoe.

I think I wouldn’t buy it because of the amount of the money and the shoes we have are already enough!
