I've crafted an image that includes iconic kiwi elements and my culture as well. The background is a beach from my home island, Samoa. I've used value and texture to add an appealing visual. Texture is adding another dimension to give the audience a perception of what the object feels like. Value is how light or dark a colour is. Value is hues and the saturation of each colour. To represent my environment, Aotearoa, I added a Pukeko. The Pukeko is a bird that you can see almost anywhere in New Zealand.
To add more kiwiana icons into my drawing, I included some Pohutukawa blossoms.
We are currently growing some Pohutukawa trees at our school.
I also added some Hibiscus Flowers. In Samoa, we call them Teuila.
These are my favourite flowers. I inserted them as a a frame in the corner.

Research Movie - Extension

For my Inquiry Research Presentation, my group’s point of view is Doctors. In our group there is Simon, Norah - Jade and me. I have been focussing on Health statistics for children especially for Maori and Pacific. As you can see I found a lot of information about my topic. There have been many ways to lower the rates on health issues for children. The main problem is Obesity. In New Zealand there are Childhood Obesity plans for children that have Obesity. That is a way that lower the rates for Obesity. There have also been lots of Surveys about some children's everyday lifestyle, what they eat or drink, what they do for exercise and more. Overall my main message is - As New Zealand is a multicultural country there have been many ways to lower the rates of obesity and health issues for children.

Reflection on Extension Paideia Seminar

The Yr 5 & 6 Extension Crew had their first Paideia Seminar on Tuesday the 26th of June. I was a little bit nervous but I just stayed calm. Once I started talking about our provocative statement which is ‘Developing new technologies may be the only way to ensure the survival of the human race’ I became more confident and just went with it. I am so excited until the next Paideia Seminar.

Reflection: Term 3 Paideia Seminar

On Tuesday we had our 3rd Paideia Seminar.

20170919_142009.jpgThe Statement we had to think about was: ‘Is being civilised such a good thing?’ There are different meanings for the word civilisation. It is good to be civilised because if we weren't nice to each other there would be wars. What I think civilisation means is how advanced or how easy things are now than back then. If we weren’t civilised and there were no laws, first of all there would be lots of car crashes and wars because some people might not be loyal or kind towards others.
20170919_141957.jpg I thought  we did a great job at Piggybacking, sharing and including people in the Seminar.

My Goal was to speak about 3 times and I finally reached my Goal. What was different from this seminar from our 2nd one was that I opened my mouth more and last time I was really quiet. What I am going to work more on is to think more critically and share more information about the topic.

Pisirina Term 2 Rubric Reflection.

When I saw my final score and how I did, I was kind of  disappointed because I think I could’ve had a bigger score. The most obvious one that I didn’t do well in was the Paideia Seminar because I didn’t really participate in with the conversation that much. But I really am proud of what I have achieved because I think that I have really improved from Term 1. But Something I obviously know what to work on is contributing more in the Seminar.

My goal for the next Paideia Seminar is to talk more but not dominate the conversation.

Pisirina Reflection Paideia Seminar Term 2.

This Term we had the Paideia Seminar for Term 2 because we had no time for the Seminar. Me, Jahzara, Levonah and Amelia were in a group for the Seminar. Our perspective was School. I chose this because it had lot’s of reasons and facts to talk about. This is what we were talking and arguing politely about:
Is it important to keep our humanity, emotions, critical thinking, and empathy or doesn’t it matter if we live in a wired world where we are individuals, not a community?
What is the best or worst case scenario of living in a world, where we don’t communicate face to face?
I felt really nervous, I kept on telling my group I don’t know what to say but Amelia told me to just piggy bank on my Idea. My Emotions took over me but I was okay. I thought that I didn’t really talk that much because I was really shy. One person who surprised me was Bethan because she barely opened her mouth and usually she dominates the conversation. Something I could do better is to talk more and express myself because everybody has a voice.

Pisirina Yr 5&6 extension Mini Production

The Production was amazing, I couldn’t believe my eyes.
I had rotten butterflies in my stomach but as soon as I started like a star.I really enjoyed the soloist, especially Bethan's solo because she overcame her fear.I had 2 roles in the production, I was a Narrator and a Kid/Grandma in the 60s scene. My favourite scene was the 60s because I loved the costumes for the girls/dancers. Something I would work on is speaking more clear when I was ending the show. I was really surprised by the main actors who managed to learn their lines within probably 4 weeks. But after we did our mini production I wouldn’t change a thing because we performed it perfectly.

Save the world

We have to stop polluting. The reason why me, Levonah, Jaedah and Bethan made this because we all care about animals, but some of them are nearly extincted. Save the world from pollution.
