I am grateful for... - Inquiry 2020

Task Description
Taha Hinengaro. This is all about having an healthy mind. I learnt many ways to deal and relieve your stress personally, interpersonally and societally. One way I relieve and help my mind be in a positive mindset is by listening to music. I learnt that there is always someone that can and will listen to your problems. You just got to keep searching. And if that doesn't work then going to people with more skills and control like an therapist, nurse/doctor or teacher is someone who could help take things off of your mind/chest. Just like our physical health, our mental health is just as important. We must learn to communicate and discuss how we are feeling and why we are feeling certain emotions. And to this day many adults are still learning that helpful skill!

My task was to write down 3 - 5 things I am grateful for and why. Writing down positive things distracts you from something that is bugging you. To be happy, you must accept your emotions. Check out what I am grateful for and why!

Science reflection - Science @ Tech 2020

For Tech, I was in the science class with Mrs Sharma. I've had 10 long weeks of learning about science. I learnt about scientists, earthworms, plastics, saving energy, creating energy, bones and skeleton, sugary stuff and leaves/plants. I had lots of fun learning these different type of things in science. I learnt lots of stuff and I now have more vocabulary in my "science language".

My favourite topic I've learnt about would have to be earthworms or leaves. I didn't know much about these two things so there was a lot of knowledge and words to absorb and actually understand. I know why leaves are green and I know the stucture of a leaf. A bonus is that I know a lot of cool words like the xylem, palisade mesophyll, chlorophyll and many more.

For earthworms, it was actually really cool. I was disgusted at first but learning about each feature of a earthworm and its function, is surprisingly fun. One interesting fact is that an earthworm has a clitellum which is the "belt" on a worm that carries 20 maturing eggs. Insane, right? I also got to see worms up close that Mrs Sharma brought from her garden. We had to record the behaviour of 3 worms. That was a fun week!

I am so happy that I had the privellage to be in the first class for science this year. Although, there was a lot of notetaking and carefully watching videos, it was still an amazing time. Testing experiments, having funny discussions about our topic and more. I am also going to be doing an experiment myself that includes plants and food dye, so watch out for that.

Thank you to Mrs Sharma for teaching me all this knowledge about some topics and helping me develop a deeper link and interest for science. I really appreciate the time and knowledge you've put into teaching classes about science. Thanks a lot!

Plants/Leaves Collage - Tech @ Home 2020

Task Description
Last week we had a google meet with our tech teacher. I am in the Science tech group. My teachers name is  Mrs Sharma. We learnt about plants. Have you ever wondered why a leaf or plant is green? Well, we learnt why a plant is green. It's because of this pigment named chlorophyll that can be found in leaves and plants. Mrs Sharma asked us to make a photo collage of the leaves and plants around our house and garden. The poster above is mine. Enjoy :)

Inside Earth - Reading 2020

Task Description
For this presentation, I had at least 4 tasks to accomplish. I had to break a text that I've read into word groups. It was tricky at first but with help from my teacher and friends, I got the hang of it. The next task was to use a graphic organiser to sort and gather information whilst listening to and watching the video that Ms Tapuke(My literacy teacher) provided for us. I had to type some quick notes, word groups and specific topic vocabulary. I then explored some more about the Earths Interior with the helpful document Ms Tapuke provided for us on Slide 6. Lastly, I simply and quickly just typed down the main and interesting new things I've learnt about the Earth's structure.
