Camp 2021

This year, camp was really fun! I am really great for the opportunities that have been given. We have been waiting for this camp for so long and it is very sad that it has ended. So many memories have been made during the three-day event.

The activities we should definitely keep for 2021 are Archery, Paintball, Air Rifles, Railway Jiggers, High

ropes, Go-karting and Gym games.  I think that we should add a campfire night so that we could roast

marshmallows. It would also be really fun for the future year 8’s that go on this camp.

Overall these three days are really important. It is really good for us because we can show off the

potential we have as leaders in our school and community. As a school prefect I had the opportunity to

sit back and watch everyone step up, take their role as leaders of  our school. I am very proud of

myself and everyone else!

Reflection - Term 2 2020

Can you believe that it's almost the end of Term 2? It's the second to last day and we're on our way to our mid-term break. So many things has happened in the past 12 weeks!

Learning Lockdown was a struggle but it didn't stop our school to stop learning! We got given lots of work about Maths, Literacy, Inquiry and even about our Health! Lockdown was really fun!

We got back to school and it was so different. It took awhile to get used to it but I was able to adapt to the new circumstances. So many new things happened but it was still fun.

I enjoyed staying in one class for the whole day but I do miss my other teachers. I have a new home class which is very entertaining and we are still learning to work as an amazing team together.

No sports have started yet but next term, netball will be starting up again. So, I'm very excited for that. There is also cross country but I'm not really excited for that but that is okay.

So many things has happened because of the virus but there is so much more to happen. Thank you to all the teachers that have provided work for us even throughout the lockdown. I can't wait for next term!

Science reflection - Science @ Tech 2020

For Tech, I was in the science class with Mrs Sharma. I've had 10 long weeks of learning about science. I learnt about scientists, earthworms, plastics, saving energy, creating energy, bones and skeleton, sugary stuff and leaves/plants. I had lots of fun learning these different type of things in science. I learnt lots of stuff and I now have more vocabulary in my "science language".

My favourite topic I've learnt about would have to be earthworms or leaves. I didn't know much about these two things so there was a lot of knowledge and words to absorb and actually understand. I know why leaves are green and I know the stucture of a leaf. A bonus is that I know a lot of cool words like the xylem, palisade mesophyll, chlorophyll and many more.

For earthworms, it was actually really cool. I was disgusted at first but learning about each feature of a earthworm and its function, is surprisingly fun. One interesting fact is that an earthworm has a clitellum which is the "belt" on a worm that carries 20 maturing eggs. Insane, right? I also got to see worms up close that Mrs Sharma brought from her garden. We had to record the behaviour of 3 worms. That was a fun week!

I am so happy that I had the privellage to be in the first class for science this year. Although, there was a lot of notetaking and carefully watching videos, it was still an amazing time. Testing experiments, having funny discussions about our topic and more. I am also going to be doing an experiment myself that includes plants and food dye, so watch out for that.

Thank you to Mrs Sharma for teaching me all this knowledge about some topics and helping me develop a deeper link and interest for science. I really appreciate the time and knowledge you've put into teaching classes about science. Thanks a lot!

Reflection - Extension 2019

Extension 2019 Reflection!

Term 1 - In Term 1 we learnt about the Treaty of Waitangi. Our DLO task was to make a Game Design. I enjoyed planning a Game Design, it made me realise that a game designer takes a lot of time to plan and create their product. One thing, I could've worked on more was contributing more to Paideia Seminar. It was also my first time going to KPMG.

Term 2 - Term 2, we did work related to Latitude and Longitude such as using Compasses, doing orienteering and more. DLO task was to create a Bincurity tool to help around school. I created a Manual Trash Compactor. We also went to KPMG this term.

Term 3 - For Term 3, we had make a movie about Sustainability. I was in a group with Eden, Zaeeda and Bethan. We made a video about children do have rights to speak the opinion. W also had a classification for the sea creatures. We put some sea animals into groups due to the features they have in common. We had a great time at KPM, going to Sustainable Coastlines to have a better understanding of the water resources and more.

Term 4 - This term was very busy but we made time to make a UV Sensor. We also went to KPMG in Week 3. WE learnt about UV Lights and the Ozone Layer / hole.

Overall. this year was jam packed with trips and events. It was so fun to go to KPMG and creating cool products for our DLO. Hope you enjoyed!

Reflection on Maths - Maths 2019

This year, I enjoyed Maths a lot. I learnt many things like Ratios, Decimals, Fractions, Percentages, Statistics, Geometry and Algebra.
This year I have improved a lot compared to the beginning of the year and last year. My strengths are a part of the Strand Content. I need to keep on working hard mainly on Ratios and Number Knowledge.

Next year, Mrs Stone and I will try and move my grades up higher than it already is. I can't wait til next year for what kind of Maths we will learn more about.

Overall, I am proud of myself for doing well on every Maths test and basically just this whole year's progress.

Reflection on Extension Paideia Seminar

The Yr 5 & 6 Extension Crew had their first Paideia Seminar on Tuesday the 26th of June. I was a little bit nervous but I just stayed calm. Once I started talking about our provocative statement which is ‘Developing new technologies may be the only way to ensure the survival of the human race’ I became more confident and just went with it. I am so excited until the next Paideia Seminar.
