See Ya Later Salmonella! - Tech @ Tamaki College 2020

See Ya Later Salmonella!

Which kitchen cloth is best for getting rid of food bacteria?

The aim for this experiment is to find out which cloth will be the best for removing food bacteria. In this experiment we have tested several cloths on chicken.

Finding the best kitchen cloth for getting rid of food bacteria is very important. We want to stop the spread of bacteria. Our kitchen is the place where we prepare our food and it is critical that we should have no food bacteria in our food. This will keep our immune system and hygiene strong.

We tested multiple kitchen cloths and came to the conclusion that the best one for removing salmonella is the third cloth. Chux Super Absorbent Cloth. This absorbed but did not soak up as much bacteria as all the others and you could effectively wash the cloth to get rid of all the food bacteria accumulated inside that cloth

We definitely recommend this cloth when dealing with chicken and other food!

Task Description
Our first tech rotation is Science. We are going to be doing Science for at least 10 more weeks for Tech @ Tamaki College. We watched a video about a science fair in Wellington and took notes about our favourite project. My favourtie was the See Ya Later Salmonella stand. We then took the notes we wrote and had to write a summary about it. This is what I wrote.

Triangle Numbers - Maths 2020

Patterns / Triangle Numbers

Today we focussed on doing patterns. We discovered triangular numbers. We also learnt that there can be several patterns and number patterns in anything. In this triangle we found many patterns such  as the Triangle numbers and in the sum of each line we found a pattern too.

I learnt that even a pattern like 1, 2, 3, 4 and so on can be a pattern too. Also to sometimes forget about the image and focus on the number to find out the rule and to just explore with maths.

This session was really fun and easy, thanks to last year with all the learning on Algebra.

This is one of my reading tasks for this week. We had to create a Information Web about a famous NZ Film Director. All this information came from this biography we read that was given to us from Ms Tapuke. I made a Information Web about Niki Caro. Enjoy!

My Hero - Writing 2020

MY HERO

A member of my family who I think is a hero is my beautiful mother who wishes to remain anonymous. I believe she is a hero because she has not only done a lot for me but also for my family. She wakes up at 6am in the morning to get ready for work as well as pack our lunch and get all siblings ready for school. She then returns home 6pm at night and cooks our dinner. For those of you that do not know but I am the middle child of 6 kids. Thats a lot of people that she has to look after and also clean after everyday. She does all of this with a smile on her face and hope in her eyes, never once have I heard her complain and thats one of the many reasons why I think she is a hero. She may not be famous or have super powers but that doesn't matter to me because the greatest gift ever gifted to me is to have her as my mother.

Task Description
Our Create Task was to write about a family hero and explain how they are a hero to you. This is my explanation. Enjoy!

Book Summary Chapter 2 - Reading 2020

Chapter of the book "How I didn't straighten my hair (And other life lessons)". There is also a boy who was introduced in the story. His name is Ethan, same age as Dora and lives next door to her Grandparents house. While her mom and sister were gone to a ballet event, Dora is left with her homework lingering on her mind. She thought of a brilliant and eye-catching information poster about Rainforests. Theodora still hasn't managed to find her 'thing' but it seems like she has another goal that she is desperately wanting to achieve.

Will she achieve her new goal? Who knows. We'll find out soon!

Book Summary Chapter 1 - Reading 2020

Chapter One of the book "How I didn't straighten my hair" is all about the main protaganist Dora explaining the dynamics of her greek family. There is a sense of jealousy/sister rivalry between her and her older sister who's still yet to be named.  My guess from this chapter is that the main reason for her jealousy is because her sister is the complete opposite of her both in looks and personality. Her sister has found her thing which is ballet dancing but Dora is still yet to find something that she enjoys and succeeds at and from what I've read so far it is not greek dancing, karate or hip hop. Hopefully in the next chapter we can see Dora explore more possibilities for what her "thing" could be.
