The Pungent Assembly - Term 3 2019

Can you believe that it is Term 3 already? It is the start of a new term. The first thing we do on the first day of each term is to attend the Immersion Assembly. Let’s see what happened!

The regular first day of the term commenced with the first bell ringing.  All the boys that have been playing touch ran inside the class and put their bags in the appropriate spot. Soon, all the seniors were seated on the cold floor. The Team 5 Assembly has started.

Everything went normal. Two students from Room 4 stood up in front of the whole Senior Block and said their Mihi/Karakia. The Team 5 assembly held notices and reminders of the brand-new term. That was over and it was now time for the School Assembly!

We lined up in BG(Boy Girl) files. Room 3 strutted to the School Hall. It was all normal until I inhaled a fishy scent?  I studied the front where the stage is positioned and noticed Mr Burt, Mrs Tele'a and Mr Somerville was cooking seafood. This was not a typical day at all.

The Team 5 teachers did a song about the Cells, Nucleus, Chromosomes, Gene and DNA. It was confusing because I don't know much about Biology let alone Science. Judging by that I think that this term will be extraordinary. We will learn a lot!

The theme is "Something in the Water"! Team 5 is going to be learning about How all the organisms are connected. I am so excited about this term. I can't wait to see what this term brings. Production is happening this term so I know that this term will be packed full of exciting events!

What am I? πŸŽƒ - Quick Write 2019

What am I?

I am orange. I have a stem growing out of my head. I am pretty big compared to my friends. And when someone says my name they automatically think of Halloween. Other vegetables and fruits find me intimidating. I don’t know why. I taste delicious in soup. Apparently people have me in pies. I don’t have the best skin as it is very rough.

For our warm up for writing, we did a Quick Write. We had 5 minutes to describe a Vegetable or Fruit without saying it's name. Can you guess what Vegetable or Fruit I described?

We learnt how to figure out the area and perimeter for triangles, specifically right angle triangles and a equilateral triangle. Next week we are diving right into finding and figuring out the area of a circle. Enjoy!

Day 1 of 'The 15 day challenge' - Holiday Blog Post

Today is Day 1 of The 15 day challenge. Currently it is 7:35pm and I am going to tell you a few facts about me that most people don't know.

Let's start with the first fact! You might know this if you watched my Malaga animation but if you didn't then you can watch it from this link. I was born in a village near Apia in Samoa and was raised here in New Zealand. I lived in Christchurch for about 3 - 4 years and then I moved to Auckland.

Second fact is that I like singing. I don't usually sing all the time but when I have to, I give it my best. At my church we have a choir and I am the youngest of them all. I enjoy singing and it helps when I am not feeling my best.

Final fact is that I am a Gemini. Most people don't know my birthday, to be honest some of my family members forget! But that's okay for me at least. Since not many know my birthday that won't know my Zodiac Sign and that's it!

Thank you for taking your time and reading this. It means a lot! Stay tuned for Day 2 of the 15 day challenge.

World Wealth - Maths 2019

TASK DESCRIPTION
Since I have finished my work early this week, I decided to do some extra maths work with Zaeeda. Mrs Stone gave us a task called World Wealth. We had to calculate the population of each continent excluding Antartica, calculate the cookies and the wealth. The hardest part was turning it into a percentage. We then made a graph to show what we did. This is all in the presentation up above!

#PlasticFreeJulyChallenge - Writing 2019

WALT - Write for a specific reason

Reduce plastic use!: The challenge

Utilizing single use plastic material is useful. But, is it beneficial for the environment? I think not. The impact from plastic has made a huge difference from a century ago. So let us reduce plastic use and join the challenge.

What is this challenge? This challenge is called Plastic Free July. Participating in this event will cause you to stop using anything plastic, such as plastic bottles, plastic utensils, plastic bags, plastic straws and more. Everything we use that includes plastic is prohibited. I dare you to do this challenge with me!

If you are aiming to not use plastic water bottles, here are a few things you should know. Instead of using plastic bottles, why not use a reusable bottle like a stainless steel bottle. Just make sure that the stainless bottle you are using is safe for your health. It is scientifically proven that some steel bottles are made with aluminium and that is poisonous. Safety first!

Plastic bags are another challenge you can overcome too! Did you know in New Zealand that the Government has banned Plastic bags from stores? You can use any type of reusable bags as long as they are biodegradable. Meaning.... This can help you for many things. First is, it helps the environment and second it can help you save money.  That’s all.

The aim of this event is to create habits so you can use it for your lifetime. Sure, it say July but if you get used to it, Why go back? I'm sure for myself as I have had experience with this. Create new habits.

This is all for the environment. If we stop the use of Plastic then our land will be a happy environment. Stopping plastic is one of the things we can do to make a change and right now that is happening in NZ. Plastic bags getting banned have helped and that is not the end of making our earth a better place. For our earth, let’s end the use of plastic and join the challenge of the Plastic Free July!

TASK DESCRIPTION
I am writing about the Plastic Free July. Read it above to find out more.

Daring Decimals - MATHS 2019

For the last week of the term we are finishing off the term with Decimals. Room 4 Maths started off the slides by doing Equivalent Fractions. Next we did two slides of Decimal Dilemma which is adding and subtracting Decimals. We then converted decimals into fractions then into percentages. I finished all the slides on the presentation so I guess you could I gave it my 100% (Get it! BTW it's a Maths pun). Enjoy!
