We've been learning about Vincent Van Gogh for a while now. We practised Pointillism - the painting technique Vincent used, with pastels and colouring pencils. Pointillism is basically small and short strokes with many different colours so it forms an illusion of colour! We then moved onto actually painting the STARRY NIGHT!!!! It was very exciting but also hard. I struggled with using the technique as I was very used to doing long, thick brush strokes. But I finished it within a week, so do not judge the finished look. I am very proud of my artwork!

We're finally in Term 4! Last term for this year and for my schooling years at PES. My class and I have dived straight into Maths. I'm starting to learn more Algebra. We also have exams soon, so I am working extra hard to revise, learn and remember what I have learnt this year. Yes!, Covid19 was an obstacle but it didn't stop me from learning online through Google Meets with my teacher and classmates.

Let's do well this term, shall we?

(As I saw it) - History 2020

Task Description
Continuing onto my past few "As I see it" inquiry work stuff. We are learning about some history in New Zealand. Such as the first day of James Cook and the Endeavour arriving in Aotearoa. We got given a random card that had an item on it. The item correlated with a person. The person I had which is Taiata, had a terrible life, being a 12 year old who was kidnapped from his own home. One of the tasks. I had to do was to write in the perspective of the item you were given. I enjoyed it very much. Check it out in the slides above!

Start of Algebra! - Maths 2020

The first two slide in my prestation was to quickly revise on my measurement that we did recently and just things to touch base on as we only have a term left of school at Pt England. We finally moved onto Algebra! I enjoyed this topic of maths last year. My neural pathways were really strong when it came to this topic so I immediately knew what to do for Number Patterns. This made it really easy for me to solve.  Enjoy!

Reflection - Term 2 2020

Can you believe that it's almost the end of Term 2? It's the second to last day and we're on our way to our mid-term break. So many things has happened in the past 12 weeks!

Learning Lockdown was a struggle but it didn't stop our school to stop learning! We got given lots of work about Maths, Literacy, Inquiry and even about our Health! Lockdown was really fun!

We got back to school and it was so different. It took awhile to get used to it but I was able to adapt to the new circumstances. So many new things happened but it was still fun.

I enjoyed staying in one class for the whole day but I do miss my other teachers. I have a new home class which is very entertaining and we are still learning to work as an amazing team together.

No sports have started yet but next term, netball will be starting up again. So, I'm very excited for that. There is also cross country but I'm not really excited for that but that is okay.

So many things has happened because of the virus but there is so much more to happen. Thank you to all the teachers that have provided work for us even throughout the lockdown. I can't wait for next term!

Protests - Writing 2020

PROTESTS
Why do people protest? To fight for what they think is right, raising awareness so we
can all make a change in our community. For more than 150 years, New Zealand has
had the freedom to protest. You can protest if you want!

What is a protest? A protest is a party of people taking action against or for something.
Hikoi, March, Strike, Petition, Meet and Rallies, these are the different ways you can
protest. The group of people share the same understanding and perspective and try to
convince the other side to see what is wrong!

What causes a protest? Protests are an action-based response to a controversial topic.
It usually occurs when people have had enough of staying silent. They use their voice as
an attempt to influence the public, government and more.

Do Protests actually work? Yes! But, it depends on the people who are protesting and
the government. The protesters must be able to convince and have evidence to support
their protest, Our government should also be able to listen and understand what they’re
trying to say, they should also make the right and best decision for their people and
land. It all decides on both sides!

Now that you are more educated on protests, what are you gonna do? WIll you use
your voice and amplify others' opinions? You have the freedom to protest about
anything. You are able to protest and change the world!

Task Description
This is my writing about protests. It took a pretty long time to write and I am very proud of what i've written. Hope you have learnt more about this topic!

A brush with the dark side - Reading 2020

TASK DESCRIPTION
We read a long task and tried to pick up the clues along the way. I learnt about foreshadowing. I am still learning about reading the text thoroughly and learn to find and scan for key information that will help me to uderstand it. I also did a task about independant and dependant clause. I also wrote sentences that would fit with the picture and it had to contain one idea. Enjoy!
